Job summary

North Star is advertising a Deckhand position for its ERRV/MRV fleet with a start date of 29th August 2026. This permanent role operates on a 4 weeks on/off rotation, with a competitive salary and a contributory pension.

Suitable candidates should have at least 6 months sea time and prior deckhand experience, preferably on ERRV vessels. Benefits include 28 days on/off rotation, access to an Employee Assistance Programme, and ongoing safety training under STCW standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Execute duties as designated by watch keeping rota.
• Report to the Watch Keeping Officer on Watch for all duties.
• Assist as Rescue Craft crew member when engaged.
• Familiar with Breathing Apparatus and basic Fire Fighting.
• Support the Emergency Response team and Rescue Craft as applicable.
• Monitor safety of shore contractors during maintenance periods.
• Promote the company Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Policy.
• Promote inter-departmental communications.

The Company currently have a vacancy for Deckhand in its ERRV/MRV fleet.

Suitable candidates require to have a minimum of 6 months relevant sea time and have worked as a Deckhand previously, preferably on an ERRV vessel.

• STCW Fire Fighting and Fire Prevention (A-VI/1-2)

• Seafarers medical.

Preferred Certificates

• OPITO ITSO (or Medical Aid and Rescue Care)
• OPITO FRC Boatman

Deckhand Is Responsible For The Following

The execution of duties as designated by watch keeping rota. Deckhand is responsible to the Watch Keeping Officer on Watch for any / all duties.

• Responsible to the Coxswain when engaged as a Rescue Craft crew member.
• Deckhands should be familiar with the use of Breathing Apparatus and possess basic Fire Fighting Skills.
• Forming part of both the vessel's on board Emergency Response team, and Rescue Craft's whereby applicable.
• Monitoring safe working practices of shore contractors during periods of maintenance
• Actively promoting and progressing the company Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Policy.
• Actively promoting inter-departmental communications.
