Job description

SNG have a fantastic Permanent opportunity to join our Debt Advice Service as Debt Advice Compliance Specialist.

With offices in Basingstoke, Thatcham, Hurn, London, and Bristol we can be flexible on your base location. You'll share your time between your base location, our other offices and home - there will be an element of travel across our region so you should have access to transport and be happy to travel.

The Role:

Reporting to the Debt Advice Manager, you'll play a fundamental role in ensuring our newly formed Debt Advice Service meets the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) standards, while also supporting ongoing service development and excellence.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Leading and creating elements of our compliance, governance and monitoring for the Debt Advice Service. Ensuring adherence to FCA Handbook, embedding the new Consumer Duty, MaPS standards and any other relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Conducting internal audits, file reviews, and quality checks, providing detailed feedback to advisers and management.
  • Keeping up with regulatory updates and implementing changes to policy and process.
  • Designing and delivering training on compliance and quality assurance for staff.
  • Supporting a culture of continuous improvement and high-quality customer experience.
  • Acting as the key contact for compliance matters with regulators, auditors, and external partners.
  • Embedding compliance frameworks and leading annual service reviews.
  • Supporting data integrity, GDPR compliance, and risk management across the service.
What We're Looking For:
  • Demonstrable experience in compliance or quality assurance, ideally within debt advice, financial services, or housing.
  • Excellent knowledge of the FCA regulations and Consumer Duty obligations.
  • Excellent communication skills – confident in providing direct, constructive feedback, leading training, and writing reports.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CertMAP, ICA Compliance, or similar).
  • Skilled in audits, risk assessment, policy development, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Analytical mindset with great attention to detail.
  • Passionate about supporting residents through effective, ethical Debt Advice services.
Your Benefits:

This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the heart of our growing Debt Advice team – monitoring processes, identifying risks, supporting staff training, and helping ensure we remain aligned with governance, regulatory expectations and best practice to deliver a quality service.

You'll be encouraged to bring your whole self to work and find like-minded people in a diverse and inclusive working community. Our benefits include:

  • £450 yearly flexible benefit pot to use against benefits of your choice.
  • 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays (with an extra day every year up to 30 days).
  • Chance to buy or sell holiday as part of our flexible benefits package.
  • Generous pension matching up to 12%.
  • Life cover.
  • Flexible working.
  • Recognition scheme.
  • Wellbeing discount.
