The Role

Deal Advisory Tax provides market leading services to both Corporate and Financial investors. Our teams focus on clients in four key markets: Corporates, Private Equity & Credit, Real Estate, and Energy & Infrastructure. We are a national, connected team working collaboratively across sectors.

  • Corporates: We support FTSE 100 and 250 companies, as well as other UK corporates, with strategic acquisitions, carve outs, de-mergers, disposals, and joint ventures both domestically and cross-border. Our sectors include Consumer, Life sciences, TMT, Industrials, ENR, and Banking & Insurance.
  • Asset Management: We work with Private Equity, Infrastructure, Renewable/Energy transition, and Real Estate Funds, plus institutional investors like Sovereign Wealth Funds and Pension Funds. Our clients have UK, European, and global investment strategies, often across multiple asset classes, providing diverse transaction experiences.

The Deal Advisory Tax team offers services across the deal spectrum, including buy-side due diligence, structuring, sell-side vendor assistance, refinancing, and listings. Deal sizes range from £10m to over £10bn, involving various clients and transaction types.

We assist clients in understanding and quantifying historical tax issues, structuring transactions, modeling tax considerations, and reflecting advice in legal documents, all aimed at maximizing value throughout the investment cycle. Our work often involves multi-country, multi-tax, and multi-stream advice, collaborating across the KPMG network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Partners and/or Directors on complex transactions to deliver high-quality advice and service.
  • Support the pursuit of new opportunities, including proposals and pitches.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships alongside Deal Advisory.
  • Act as a key KPMG contact for clients, legal advisers, and internal teams to ensure effective delivery.
  • Coach and develop colleagues, collaborate with peers, and engage in continuous learning.
  • Prepare and oversee detailed technical advice on UK and international tax issues.
  • Analyze tax-related documents/data, highlight key issues, and communicate their commercial impact.
  • Collaborate with UK and overseas tax specialists, critically analyzing their input.
  • Stay updated on UK and OECD tax developments.
  • Understand financial models from a tax perspective.
  • Contribute to Deal Advisory Tax thought leadership.
