The Role

Deal Advisory Tax provides market-leading services to both Financial and Corporate investors. We have teams focused on clients in three performance groups: Financial Services, Corporates, and National Markets. We are a national, connected team working collaboratively and learning from each other.

  • Financial Services: We work with private equity, infrastructure, and real estate funds, as well as institutional investors like sovereign wealth funds and pension funds. Our clients have UK, European, and global investment strategies.
  • Corporates: We collaborate with FTSE 100 and 250 companies, supporting strategic acquisitions, carve-outs, de-mergers, disposals, and joint ventures in the UK and cross-border.
  • National Markets: We work across the UK with mid-market corporates and PE funds investing in key sectors to grow local economies.

The Deal Advisory Tax team offers services across the deal spectrum, including buy-side due diligence, structuring, sell-side vendor assistance, refinancing, and listings. Deal sizes range from £10m to over £10bn, involving diverse clients and deals.

We assist clients in understanding historical tax issues and structuring transactions, focusing on maximizing value throughout the investment cycle. Our work often involves advising across multiple countries, taxes, and work streams within the KPMG network.

  • Develop and maintain client relationships within Deal Advisory.
  • Serve as a key KPMG contact for clients, legal advisers, and internal teams to ensure effective delivery.
  • Coach and develop colleagues, collaborate with peers, and pursue continuous learning.
  • Prepare and oversee detailed technical advice on UK and international tax issues.
  • Analyze tax-related documents/data, highlighting key issues and their commercial impact.
  • Collaborate with UK and overseas tax specialists, critically analyzing their input.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK and OECD tax developments.
  • Understand financial models from a tax perspective.
  • Contribute to Deal Advisory Tax thought leadership.

The Person

  • Qualified CTA, ACA/CA, or equivalent.
  • Ambitious, enthusiastic, with a keen interest in transactions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Solid UK corporate tax knowledge and awareness of other tax and accounting matters.
  • Analytical, curious, and commercially minded.
  • Excellent project management skills, able to work in teams and take initiative.
  • Proactive in developing business opportunities.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Leadership qualities to develop and coach colleagues.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.

We support flexible working arrangements to help balance home and work demands. During recruitment, we can connect you with colleagues who work flexibly to share insights about our culture.
