The Role

Deal Advisory Tax provides market leading services to both Financial and Corporate investors. Our teams focus on clients in three performance groups: Financial Services, Corporates, and National Markets. We are a national, connected team that collaborates and learns together.

  • Financial Services: We work with private equity, infrastructure, real estate funds, and institutional investors such as sovereign wealth funds and pension funds. Our clients have UK, European, and global investment strategies.
  • Corporates: We support FTSE 100 and 250 companies with strategic acquisitions, carve outs, de-mergers, disposals, and joint ventures in the UK and cross-border.
  • National Markets: We collaborate across the UK with mid-market corporates and PE funds investing in key sectors to grow local economies.

Our team provides advisory services across the deal spectrum, including buy-side due diligence, structuring, sell-side vendor assistance, refinancing, and listings. Deal sizes range from £10m to over £10bn. We help clients understand historical tax issues and structure transactions to maximize value, often involving advice across multiple countries and taxes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Partners and Directors on complex transactions to deliver exceptional advice
  • Support in pursuing new opportunities, proposals, and pitches
  • Develop and maintain client relationships
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients, legal advisers, and other KPMG teams
  • Coach and develop colleagues, collaborate with peers, and pursue continuous learning
  • Prepare and oversee detailed technical advice on UK and international tax issues
  • Analyze tax-related documents/data, highlighting key issues and their commercial impact
  • Collaborate with UK and overseas tax specialists, challenging their input
  • Stay updated on UK and OECD tax developments
  • Understand financial models from a tax perspective
  • Contribute to Deal Advisory Tax thought leadership

The Person

  • Qualified CTA, ACA/CA, or equivalent
  • Ambitious, enthusiastic, with a keen interest in transactions
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Solid UK corporate tax knowledge and awareness of other tax and accounting matters
  • Analytical, curious, and commercially minded
  • Excellent project management skills and initiative
  • Proactive in developing long-term business opportunities
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • Leadership skills for team development and coaching
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
