The Role

Deal Advisory Tax provides market-leading services to both Financial and Corporate investors. We have teams focused on clients in three performance groups: Financial Services, Corporates, and National Markets. We are a national, connected team, working and learning together.

  • Financial Services: We work with private equity, infrastructure, and real estate funds, as well as institutional investors like sovereign wealth funds and pension funds. Our clients have UK, European, and Global investment strategies.
  • Corporates: We support FTSE 100 and 250 companies with strategic acquisitions, carve-outs, de-mergers, disposals, and joint ventures in the UK and cross-border.
  • National Markets: We work across the UK with mid-market corporates and PE funds to invest in key sectors and grow local economies.

The Deal Advisory Tax team offers services across the deal spectrum, including buy-side due diligence, structuring, sell-side vendor assistance, refinancing, and listing support. Deal sizes range from £10m to over £10bn, working with diverse clients and transactions. We help clients understand historical tax issues and structure transactions to maximize value, often involving multiple countries and taxes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Partners and Directors on complex transactions to provide exceptional advice
  • Support in pursuing new opportunities, proposals, and pitches
  • Develop and maintain client relationships
  • Serve as a point of contact for clients, legal advisers, and KPMG teams
  • Coach and develop colleagues, collaborate with peers, and pursue continuous learning
  • Prepare and oversee detailed technical advice on UK and international tax issues
  • Analyze tax documents/data, identify key issues, and explain their commercial impact
  • Work with UK and overseas tax specialists, challenging their input critically
  • Stay updated on UK and OECD tax developments
  • Understand financial models from a tax perspective
  • Contribute to Deal Advisory Tax thought leadership

The Person

  • Qualified CTA, ACA/CA, or equivalent
  • Ambitious, enthusiastic, with interest in transactions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Solid UK corporate tax knowledge and awareness of other tax/accounting matters
  • Analytical, curious, and commercially minded
  • Excellent project management skills and team collaboration
