The Role

KPMG’s Energy and Natural Resources (“ENR”) tax practice covers Oil and Gas, Mining, Power and Utilities (including renewables) and Chemicals. As our clients are facing unprecedented change with the energy transition and fiscal uncertainty, our ENR tax and legal practice is growing significantly.

Our clients include some of the largest global ENR companies, both UK-based and inbound groups. Our work spans deal advisory support, international tax, and domestic tax advice. A successful candidate will have opportunities to work across these areas.

Our Deal Advisory Tax services encompass the entire deal spectrum, including vendor assist, refinancing, due diligence, buy-side structuring, and more. We focus on understanding historical tax issues, structuring transactions, and maximizing value throughout the investment cycle. Our work often involves multiple countries, taxes, and work streams, requiring collaboration across the KPMG network.

In tax advisory, we support clients with business and fiscal changes, such as new jurisdiction entry, business development, reorganizations, refinancing, leasing, windfall taxes, and global fiscal changes like BEPS 2.0 Pillar 2.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Partners and Directors on complex engagements to deliver exceptional advice and service.
  • Support in pursuing new opportunities, including proposals and pitches.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships.
  • Serve as a key KPMG contact for clients, legal advisers, and other teams.
  • Coach and develop colleagues, collaborate with peers, and pursue continuous learning.
  • Prepare and oversee detailed technical advice on UK and international tax issues.
  • Analyze tax-related documents and data, highlighting key issues and their commercial impact.
  • Collaborate with UK and overseas tax specialists, critically analyzing their input.
  • Stay updated on key UK and OECD tax developments.
  • Understand financial models from a tax perspective.
  • Contribute to thought leadership.

The Person

  • Qualified CTA, ACA/CA, or equivalent.
  • Enthusiastic with a keen interest in transactions.
  • Experience in the ENR sector is advantageous; strong interest and willingness to learn are also considered.
  • Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Solid UK corporate tax knowledge.
  • Strong analytical skills, curiosity, and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to work in a team and manage workload.
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.

We support flexible working arrangements to help balance work and home demands. During recruitment, we can connect you with colleagues who work flexibly to give you insight into our culture.
