Job Description:

The Role

KPMG’s Energy and Natural Resources (“ENR”) tax practice covers Oil and Gas, Mining, Power and Utilities (including renewables) and Chemicals. As our clients face unprecedented change with the energy transition and fiscal uncertainty, our ENR tax and legal practice is growing significantly.

Our clients include some of the largest global ENR companies, both UK headquartered and inbound groups. Our work involves deal advisory support, international tax, and domestic tax advice. A successful candidate will have opportunities to work across these areas.

Our Deal Advisory Tax work includes advisory services across the entire deal spectrum, including company/sell-side vendor assist, refinancing, due diligence projects, buy-side due diligence, and structuring. We help clients understand historical tax issues and structure transactions, focusing on maximizing value throughout the investment cycle. Our work often involves advice on multiple countries, taxes, and work streams, collaborating across the KPMG network.

In tax advisory, we support clients with business and fiscal change, including advising on new jurisdiction entry, developing new business areas, reorganizations, refinancing, leasing, windfall taxes, and global fiscal changes like BEPS 2.0 Pillar 2.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Partners and Directors on complex engagements to deliver exceptional advice and service.
  • Support in pursuing new opportunities, preparing proposals, and participating in pitches.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Serve as a key KPMG contact for clients, legal advisers, and other teams.
  • Coach and develop colleagues, collaborate with peers, and pursue continuous learning.
  • Prepare and oversee detailed technical advice on UK and international tax issues.
  • Analyze tax-related documents/data, highlight key issues, and communicate their commercial impact.
  • Collaborate with UK and overseas tax specialists, critically analyzing and challenging their input.
  • Stay updated on UK and OECD tax developments.
  • Understand financial models from a tax perspective.
  • Contribute to thought leadership.

The Person

  • Qualified CTA, ACA/CA, or equivalent.
  • Enthusiastic with a keen interest in transactions.
  • Previous experience in ENR sector is advantageous, but candidates with strong interest and willingness to learn will be considered.
  • Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Solid UK corporate tax knowledge.
  • Strong analytical skills, curious, problem-solver, and able to provide commercial advice.
  • Team player with good workload management.
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.

We support flexible working arrangements and aim to help you balance home and work demands. During recruitment, we can connect you with colleagues who work flexibly to share their experiences.
