The Role

KPMG’s Energy and Natural Resources (“ENR”) tax practice covers Oil and Gas, Mining, Power and Utilities (including renewables) and Chemicals. Our ENR tax and legal practice is growing significantly due to the energy transition and fiscal uncertainty.

Our clients include some of the largest global ENR companies, both UK-based and inbound groups. Our work involves deal advisory support, international tax, and domestic tax advice, offering opportunities to work across these areas.

Deal advisory services include advising on company/sell-side vendor assist, refinancing, due diligence, buy-side due diligence, and structuring. We focus on maximizing value throughout the investment cycle and often work across multiple countries and tax regimes.

Tax advisory work includes advising on new jurisdiction entry, business development, reorganizations, refinancing, leasing, windfall taxes, and global fiscal changes like BEPS 2.0 Pillar 2.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Partners and Directors on complex projects to deliver high-quality advice
  • Support in business development activities, including proposals and pitches
  • Develop and maintain client relationships
  • Serve as a key contact point for clients, legal advisers, and internal teams
  • Coach colleagues and promote continuous learning
  • Prepare and oversee detailed technical advice on UK and international tax issues
  • Analyze tax documents and data, highlighting key issues and commercial impacts
  • Collaborate with UK and overseas tax specialists
  • Stay updated on UK and OECD tax developments
  • Understand financial models from a tax perspective
  • Contribute to thought leadership

The Person

  • Qualified CTA, ACA/CA, or equivalent
  • Interest in working on transactions; ENR sector experience is a plus but not mandatory
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills
  • Good UK corporate tax knowledge
  • Ability to work collaboratively and manage workload
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
