Job summary

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trusts is seeking a Listening and Communication Specialist - Speech and Language Therapist to manage a highly specialised caseload of deaf children and participate in assessment and post-operative rehabilitation following cochlear implantation.

The role involves regular clinics, collaboration with audiology and education colleagues, and opportunities for development within the Nottingham Auditory Implant Programme.

Responsibilities

• Provide highly specialist assessment, differential diagnosis and management for children and adults with deafness and additional communication needs.
• Interpret complex clinical and audiological information to inform treatment planning.
• Contribute to cochlear implant candidacy decisions and ongoing pathway management.
• Communicate complex and sensitive information to patients and families, adapting communication methods as required.
• Deliver specialist individual and group interventions and support effective use of cochlear implant technology.
• Monitor outcomes, identify concerns and signpost appropriately.
• Supervise and develop junior staff and clinical assistants.
