Swansea Bay University Health Board is seeking two DCT 2 posts in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery starting September 2025. Candidates will gain hands-on experience in outpatient clinics, theatre, and multidisciplinary teamwork, enhancing their surgical skills under supervision. We are looking to recruit two DCT 2 posts in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, commencing from 3rd September 2025 to 1st September 2026 only.
The successful candidate(s) will have the opportunity to attend outpatient clinics and treatment sessions. Experience will be gained working closely with medical and surgical colleagues across all clinical areas of OMFS. The candidate(s) will attend theatre sessions and are encouraged to develop their surgical skills appropriate for their level.
The candidate(s) will be part of 7 first-tier trainees, including a core surgical trainee. The working pattern is a 7-week cycle (1:7), rotating through operating theatres, outpatient activities, treatment sessions, day case theatre, ward, and on-call duties. The post includes resident out-of-hours on-call duties based at Morriston Hospital. The on-call commitment will be a split between weekdays and weekends, covering days or nights in a rolling rota.
The candidate(s) will have opportunities to attend outpatient clinics and treatment sessions, gaining experience working closely with medical and surgical colleagues in all clinical areas of OMFS. The trainee will attend theatre sessions and is encouraged to develop surgical skills suitable for their level. Participation in quality improvement projects or clinical audits is encouraged, with opportunities to pursue research.
The successful candidate(s) will be required to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team to promote patient safety and well-being, under supervision of an OMFS middle grade and Consultant.
The service collaborates with partner organizations, both statutory and voluntary, and has established links with local GPs.
