Job description

Astute's Power Team are currently recruiting a DCS Operator to join the Operational team on their waste to energy facility based in Bicester. The successful candidate will work closely with the Operational team on site, operating and maintaining the DCS system on shift.

The DSC Contract Operator position comes with a day rate from £350.00 to £400.00 per day outside of IR35.

Role Responsibilities and Key Skills:
  1. Operate and monitor the plant via the Distributed Control System (DCS) from the central control room.
  2. Ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the facility, including waste combustion, steam generation, and electricity production.
  3. Maintain optimal combustion conditions and adjust plant parameters to ensure stable and efficient performance.
  4. Identify and respond promptly to alarms, faults, and abnormal conditions using the DCS.
  5. Liaise with field operators and engineering teams to coordinate operational activities and planned maintenance.
  6. Record operational data and prepare shift logs, reports, and incident records as required.
  7. Ensure strict compliance with environmental and health & safety regulations.
  8. Support the Shift Team Leader and act as a key point of control room operations during your shift.
  9. Proven experience operating a DCS system on an Energy from Waste (EfW) or similar heavy process facility.
  10. Previous experience on a CNIM WTE plant is highly desirable.
  11. Knowledge or direct experience with Martin moving grate combustion systems is desirable.
  12. Strong understanding of process operations, including steam and power generation.
  13. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  14. Ability to work in a control room environment as part of a rotating shift team.
Location and Day Rate:
  1. Based in Bicester
  2. Day rate - £350.00 to £400.00
  3. Outside IR35 (Option to work via an Umbrella company)
