Are you an experienced DBT Therapist with full knowledge of working with all five functions of an intensive DBT model? If so, join Wellesley Hospital as the DBT Nurse Specialist, supporting the consistent and effective delivery of the therapeutic programme running at Wellesley Hospital.

You will be playing a key part in supporting the psychology department in developing and delivering the hospital strategy on treating Personality Disorder, contributing to the operational and clinical effectiveness of nursing and allied professional teams.

As a DBT Nurse Specialist, you will be conducting weekly individual therapy sessions with service users, preparing and delivering group work, creating and updating a DBT focused Psychological Formulation for each service user, identifying and evaluating potential improvements in the service and supporting implantation of planned improvements.

As a DBT Nurse Specialist, you will be:

  • Supporting patients in creating and updating their Behavioural Incentive Pathway.
  • Carrying out coaching and DBT awareness enhancement on the DBT pathway.
  • Providing written details of the client’s progress within DBT (CPAreports and care notes).
  • Attending ICR and CPA meetings and providing feedback on progress for each of your clients. Also attending reflective practice and actively using this space.
  • Assessing patients who have been referred to the service and providing an assessment report.
  • Supporting full adherence to the DBT model and service model.
  • Enabling and encouraging others to suggest change, challenge tradition, and share good practice with other areas of the service and/or organisation.
  • Providing supervision/mentoring of less experienced therapists and Therapy Care Assistants.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience of working within a similar role for 2 years.
  • Experience of leading, implementing, and reviewing DBT initiatives in a related environment.
  • RMN/RNLD Qualification.
  • 5 years post-registration experience.
  • Experience in DBT.
  • Leadership and Management Skills.

Location: Westpark 26, Chelston, Wellington, Somerset, TA21 9FF

You will be working at Wellesley Hospital, a purpose-built 101-bed hospital in Wellington (Somerset) for men and women with mental health needs.

There are 6 wards for people with mental health needs and 1 ward for people with Learning Disabilities and Autism.

The Wellesley Hospital, built in 2017, works alongside Devon Partnership NHS Trust, Avon and Wiltshire Foundation Trust, Cornwall Foundation Trust, 2gether Foundation Trust, and Livewell to deliver the best possible environment for patients with mental health issues.
