Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is offering a 12-month Assistant Psychologist post in the Central and West Adult Mental Health Inpatient Team, based on Duxbury ward, a female acute unit. The role focuses on supporting a DBT-informed intervention for patients with high distress and self-harm, via individual and group sessions under clinical supervision.

You will also provide assistant psychologist input across the wider psychology service on other wards and contribute to evaluation reports.

Qualifications

• 2:1 honours degree in psychology (or higher)
• Eligibility for graduate membership of the BPS
• Healthcare or NHS assistant psychology experience supervised by a qualified clinical psychologist
• Direct clinical or clinical research experience with complex mental health needs or risk to self/others
• Experience working within multidisciplinary teams

Responsibilities

• Support the DBT-informed psychological intervention on the female acute ward
• Deliver structured individual intervention sessions
• Facilitate group-based psychological intervention sessions
• Complete clinical documentation and report writing under supervision
• Administer and score outcome measures
• Collate activity data and contribute to evaluation reports
• Provide input to the wider psychology service across other wards
