Job summary

Principal Education is seeking an enthusiastic Food Technician to join our Design & Technology/Food Technology department in a school setting. You will prepare ingredients, equipment and resources for practical lessons, ensuring high standards of hygiene and safety are maintained.

The role involves supporting teachers during lessons, managing stocks and resources, and contributing to a positive learning environment for students. Enhanced DBS is required.

Qualifications

• Must hold an enhanced DBS.
• Experience in school, catering or food technology is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients, equipment and resources for practical Food Technology lessons.
• Support teachers during practical lessons and assist students where appropriate.
• Maintain clean, safe and well-organised food preparation and teaching areas.
• Ensure food hygiene, health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
• Monitor and maintain stocks of ingredients, equipment and consumables.
• Order and receive supplies within agreed budgets and procedures.
• Check, clean and safely store equipment and resources.
• Assist with the safe storage and disposal of food and materials.
• Support the department with practical demonstrations, displays and events where required.
• Report faulty or damaged equipment and help maintain appropriate records.
• Contribute positively to the wider life of the school.
