Aramark UK is recruiting a Staff Mess Assistant at HMP Millsike, Full Sutton, York. The role offers daytime hours, Monday–Friday, 37.5 hours per week, with a £13.75/hour rate and a benefits-rich environment within a global catering organisation.

You will supervise a small team, prepare and serve meals, operate kitchen equipment, handle the till, and maintain high hygiene and service standards while supporting training and progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• UK resident with 5 years' UK history and right to work in the UK.
• Ability to pass full security vetting and DBS checks.
• Experience supervising a small team is helpful; full training provided.

Responsibilities

• Motivate the team to deliver excellent service in a fast-paced environment.
• Supervise Enhanced Prisoners as they help prepare and cook food.
• Use kitchen appliances confidently: ovens, fryers, grills, broilers.
• Make drinks, serve food, and engage warmly with staff customers.
• Operate the till, handle cash and spot upsell opportunities.
• Ensure cleaning schedules are followed and maintain high standards.
• Support training for new starters and share menu knowledge.
