Job summary

Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment is seeking an experienced HGV Mechanic to join a busy workshop in Worksop. The role offers day shifts, Monday–Friday, with no nights and a likelihood of progression to permanent status.

You will service, repair and maintain HGVs and commercial vehicles, diagnose faults, and carry out routine inspections to ensure safety and roadworthiness in a high-standard workshop setting.

Qualifications

• Experience as an HGV mechanic or equivalent
• Strong knowledge of HGV mechanical systems
• Experience diagnosing faults and carrying out vehicle repairs
• NVQ/City & Guilds or equivalent qualification desirable
• Experience with refuse collection or specialist vehicles advantageous

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair HGVs and commercial vehicles
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults
• Carry out preventative maintenance and routine vehicle inspections
• Repair braking systems, suspension, steering, transmissions and engines
• Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and inspections
• Complete maintenance records and workshop paperwork
• Ensure vehicles are safe and compliant with regulations
