Job summary

University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic Staff Nurse to join the Day Surgery Services at the Poole site. This role is based on 34.5 hours per week with a core schedule supporting Day of Surgery, admissions, and theatre preparation.

You will admit and prepare patients, care for them post-operatively, and assist with nurse-led discharge. A supportive team environment and training opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• NMC registered nurse with professional and clinical knowledge.
• Evidence of undergraduate education for nurses with post-registration experience.
• Excellent communication skills and patient-centred approach.
• Experience in acute or surgical settings preferred but not essential.
• Ability to supervise staff and delegate workload when required.

Responsibilities

• Admit and prepare patients for theatre in Day Surgery.
• Provide perioperative care and post-operative observation.
• Discharge patients under nurse-led discharge criteria.
• Contribute to development and expansion of the Day Surgery Service.
• Maintain high standards of care and liaise with MDT.
