Job summary

The London Clinic is seeking a Band 5 Staff Nurse for a 12-month maternity cover in our Day Surgery Ward in central London. You will care for patients before and after planned procedures, supporting admission, recovery and discharge home with a focus on patient reassurance and safety.

Active NMC registration and 1–2 years' post-registration experience on an acute surgical ward, including ophthalmic and general surgery, are essential. Flexibility for mixed shifts is required.

Qualifications

• Active NMC registration.
• At least 1–2 years of post-registration experience on an acute surgical ward.
• Experience caring for patients pre- and post-surgery, including discharge planning.

Responsibilities

• Assess and care for patients from admission to discharge.
• Provide preoperative and postoperative care.
• Administer medicines in line with policies.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary team for safe discharges.
• Keep accurate records and share knowledge with colleagues.
