Job summary

Nexus Careers Group Ltd in Canary Wharf is seeking a Day Shift Technician to maintain critical building services on a major banking site. The role is days-only with no nights and a permanent contract.

You will perform planned and reactive maintenance across mechanical and electrical plant, respond to faults, monitor performance, and coordinate with contractors. The package includes a £47,075 salary and opportunities within a leading facilities management organisation.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in commercial FM, banking, data centres or other technically demanding environments.
• Strong hands-on maintenance and fault-finding abilities.
• Good understanding of mechanical and/or electrical building services.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across critical building services.
• Work across mechanical and electrical plant and equipment.
• Respond to faults, alarms and engineering issues on site.
• Perform first-line fault-finding and repairs.
• Monitor plant performance and preempt issues before failures.
• Complete PPM tasks per site schedules and compliance.
• Support safe isolations, permits and contractor activities.
• Conduct routine plant inspections and CAFM documentation.
• Provide clear handovers and liaise with the wider team.

Day Shift Technician - Critical Banking Site

Location: Canary Wharf

Salary: £47,075

Shift Pattern: 07:00-19:00, Days Only

Job Type: Permanent

A rare opportunity has become available for a Day Shift Technician to join a major facilities management provider, working at a high-profile critical banking and financial services site in Canary Wharf.

These roles do not come up very often, particularly on a days-only shift pattern, making this an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who wants to remain within a critical environment without working nights.

The Role

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across critical building services.
• Work across a range of mechanical and electrical plant and equipment.
• Respond to faults, alarms and engineering issues across the site.
• Carry out first-line fault-finding and repairs.
• Monitor plant performance and identify potential issues before they develop into failures.
• Work with systems including HVAC, AHUs, pumps, BMS, electrical distribution, UPS and generators.
• Complete PPM tasks in line with site schedules and compliance requirements.
• Support safe isolations, permits and contractor activities.
• Carry out routine plant inspections and condition checks.
• Record maintenance activity accurately through the site's CAFM system.
• Provide clear engineering handovers and communicate effectively with the wider team.
• Support emergency response procedures where required.
• Liaise with specialist contractors and external service providers.
• Maintain high standards of health & safety and operational compliance.

About You

• Level 3 qualification in Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services Engineering, or equivalent.
• Previous experience within commercial FM, banking, data centres, critical facilities or another technically demanding environment.
• Strong hands-on maintenance and fault-finding experience.
• Good understanding of mechanical and/or electrical building services.
• Experience with critical plant such as UPS, generators, BMS, HVAC or electrical distribution would be advantageous.
• Comfortable working a 7am-7pm days-only shift pattern.
