Job description

Astute’s Power Team is partnered with a market-leading Energy company to recruit a Day Shift Team Leader for their Energy from Waste Power Station near Bicester, Oxfordshire.

The role offers a salary of £62,849, a location living allowance of £2,654 per annum, overtime, up to 10% bonus, call-out payments, and other benefits.

Responsibilities and duties
  • Reporting to the Operations Manager, responsible for permit office work, including writing, issuing, and signing off permits to work.
  • Managing a team of Shift Operators / Shift Technicians to ensure safe and efficient operation of high-pressure boilers, generators, and auxiliary plant.
  • Ensuring plant operation within parameters while complying with HSE rules, regulations, and company policies.
  • Maximising waste input and energy production.
  • Chairing daily meetings post-shift to review health, safety, environmental issues, and plans for the upcoming shift.
  • Acting as HV Senior Authorised Person for issuing permits, switching, and mechanical/electrical isolations.
  • Collaborating with maintenance to ensure maximum plant availability.

The role involves working some shifts during absences or sickness, and being on call 1 in 7 weekends, for which you will be paid.

Professional qualifications
  • Ideally a relevant engineering qualification such as HNC/HND.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH certificate.
  • HV Senior Authorised Person certification.
