Job summary

Autoglym is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Engineer based in Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire, to keep production equipment running safely and reliably. The role requires strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills gained in manufacturing or packaging environments.

Hours are 7am-3pm Monday-Thursday and 7am-2:30pm Friday. You will perform planned maintenance, diagnose faults, support production to minimise downtime, and assist with installations and improvements while maintaining

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance within manufacturing, production or packaging environments.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Ability to work with PLC-controlled machinery and safety systems.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on manufacturing and packaging equipment.
• Diagnosing and resolving electrical, mechanical and automation faults.
• Supporting production teams to minimise downtime and restore equipment quickly.
• Maintaining motors, pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, belts, chains and pneumatic systems.
• Fault-finding on 24VDC, 230VAC and 415VAC electrical systems.
• Working with PLC-controlled machinery, control panels, sensors and safety systems.
• Assisting with machinery installations, commissioning and improvement projects.
• Completing inspections and ensuring equipment remains safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records and service reports.
• Supporting contractors on site and ensuring health and safety procedures are followed.
• Sourcing engineering spare parts and supporting maintenance planning activities.
