Job description

Our Building Services team are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join the team on-site at one of our projects in London.

The purpose of the role will be to undertake planned preventative maintenance, testing, repairs and new installation work covering a wide range of electrical equipment, services, systems and buildings associated with the running of a large hospital.

What you’ll do:

  • To support Operations Management in the provision of a 24hr maintenance Service within the hospital.
  • To work safely on ELV/LV and generated electrical systems in accordance with all statutory electrical regulations and health and safety legislation and regulations as appointed Competent Person (LV) for Skanska Facility Services.
  • To take responsibility for the maintenance of hospital equipment, plant, services and systems including undertake inspection and testing of electrical equipment and installations including portable appliances.
  • To carry out electrical installations for new work or alterations in compliance with IEE Regulations, HSWA, HTM’s and any other applicable regulations or legislation.
  • Be able to carry out basic mechanical services works to a competent level as outlined in the electrical to mechanical conversion course on plant, equipment and services.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Responsible for specifying and where required sourcing and ordering specialist materials and equipment required for the task within the Estates Department.
  • Responsible for own professional development and supervision of apprentices/trainee/support workers.
  • BTEC/HNC or City & Guilds Craft certificate or equivalent·A recognised apprenticeship·Certificate in 18th Edition IEE Regulation (Current)·As defined by the latest edition of The Electrical Safety Code for Low Voltage Systems for Competent Person (LV).
  • Experience of building maintenance and systems·Experience of working in a hospital environment·Experience of working on specialist hospital equipment·Experience of lone working·Knowledge of hospital specifics (HTM’s)
  • Supervises maintenance assistants, checks, evaluates work undertaken by either SFS staff or their specialist sub-contractors.The post holder will be flexible and adaptable withintheir existing competency commensurate and will at all times display a can do will do attitude.
