Job summary

Qube Research & Technologies (QRT) is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to own and optimise ClickHouse clusters in distributed environments. The role collaborates with Quant Researchers, Developers and Data Engineers to ensure reliable data infrastructure supporting research and trading activities.

You will administer replication, sharding, and lifecycle processes, monitor performance, and implement high availability and security policies across production and non-production

Qualifications

• 5+ years of database administration in production environments.
• Strong experience with ClickHouse in distributed or clustered setups.
• Solid understanding of replication, sharding, and distributed database architectures.
• Experience with ClickHouse Keeper or ZooKeeper.
• Strong knowledge of performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with data ingestion frameworks such as Kafka or streaming pipelines.
• Experience with PostgreSQL or SQL Server

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain ClickHouse clusters in distributed environments

• Operate and maintain ClickHouse Keeper or ZooKeeper
• Manage data lifecycle processes including partitioning, TTL, and merge operations
• Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues in high-throughput environments
• Optimise query performance through indexing strategies, partitioning, and projections
• Manage system resources including CPU, memory, and disk I/O for database workloads
• Design and implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions
• Support database environments across production and non-production setups
• Implement and maintain access control, roles, and security policies
• Work with data ingestion pipelines including streaming and batch frameworks
• Contribute to database reliability, observability, and scalability improvements

Your Future Role within QRT

You will:

Your Present Skillset

• 5+ years of experience in database administration in production environments
• Strong experience with ClickHouse in distributed or clustered setups
• Solid understanding of replication, sharding, and distributed database architectures
• Experience with ClickHouse Keeper or ZooKeeper
• Strong knowledge of performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting
• Experience supporting high-ingestion and large-scale analytical workloads
• Proficiency in SQL and database design principles
• Experience with UNIX/Linux systems and system-level performance tuning
• Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery strategies
• Familiarity with data ingestion frameworks such as Kafka or streaming pipelines
• Experience with PostgreSQL or SQL Server
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on testing and documentation
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
