Key Responsibilities:
  1. Design, develop, implement and test database server solutions using Microsoft SQL Server (or similar) integrated within PLC/SCADA-based control systems. Produce high-quality engineering design documentation and undertake activities such as requirements capture, system design specifications, detailed software specifications, test specifications, support operation & maintenance manuals, system rebuild documentation, and project lifetime records.
  2. Support the Lead Engineer and Project Manager in maintaining delivery schedules, reporting technical issues, scope changes, and variations.
  3. Work with database management systems, programming languages like SQL and Python, collaborating with other disciplines to create and administer database structures to meet client and system requirements.
  4. Ensure efficient data access and retrieval through indexing, query optimization, and database tuning. Maintain data accuracy, security, and backup procedures.
  5. Collaborate with PLC and SCADA engineers to develop and test integrated control systems, producing network architecture diagrams and interfacing design documentation.
  6. Identify and resolve server and database issues, ensuring high availability and minimal downtime.
  7. Undertake acceptance testing of the control system, supporting site acceptance testing and change management.
Here's What You'll Need:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Software or related field, or demonstrable experience with EC&I engineering using databases.
  • Experience in creating and implementing database structures within PLC/SCADA systems.
  • Experience with server deployment, VMWare, and OS configurations in large networks.
  • Proficiency in SQL, MySQL, Oracle, and/or Python programming and scripting.
  • Strong skills in data manipulation, automation, and visualization.
  • Understanding of database concepts, data modeling, and indexing.
  • Analytical skills to diagnose and resolve database issues.
  • Experience with data migration, backup, recovery, and design documentation.
  • Ability to work individually or within teams under time constraints.
  • Excellent communication and technical documentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for stakeholder interaction.
