The Role:

We are looking for an experienced SQL Database Administrator.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and maintain a large-scale data warehouse environment, handling high volumes of structured data.
  • Manage and process incoming data streams from external sources (e.g. cameras and monitoring systems).
  • Develop and support server-side data processing workflows to ensure timely and accurate data ingestion.
  • Collaborate with 2nd and 3rd line support teams, providing expertise on complex data-related issues.
  • Maintain and optimise the central database infrastructure, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to deliver custom reports and analytics, particularly for transport and public sector clients (e.g. TfL).
  • Ensure data integrity, transformation, and storage aligns with business and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in long-standing, enterprise-level projects requiring consistent support and system knowledge.
  • Troubleshoot data warehouse and integration issues and implement enhancements for improved performance and reliability.
  • Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of ETL pipelines and reporting systems.

Requirements:

  • Microsoft SQL Server Database deployed on-premise and in the cloud.
  • Always On replication to a secondary DR host.
  • Ability to produce Maintenance scripts to archive, partition, compress, purge, encrypt data.
  • SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) development which transfers data from several MySQL databases to the SQL Server
  • Support for SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) development and migration towards Power BI.
  • Use of Visual Studio for development and deployment of Solution to Developer, System Test and Production Environments.
  • Ability to upgrade versions of Microsoft products in line with security upgrades
  • Agile development using JIRA and GitLab for storage of all changes.
  • Provide support for costings for storage estimates and CPU requirements for on-going work and new bids.
  • Ability to provide documentation for design and deployment instructions for 2ndline support to perform
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and able to work to SLA’s.
