Database Administrator – CA-IDMS

Join a leading UK manufacturer as a Database Administrator (CA-IDMS) and become a vital part of their enterprise mainframe environment. This is a unique opportunity for a skilled professional with 7+ years of experience in CA-IDMS to make a real impact in a business that values technical expertise and continuous improvement.

You’ll be working onsite in Burnley, alongside a high-performing team, ensuring the stability, performance, and integrity of mission-critical database systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and patch CA-IDMS databases (Production & Test).
• Handle changes, incidents, and problem resolutions within SLAs.
• Monitor, tune, and optimise database performance and capacity.
• Provide support and guidance to application development teams.
• Maintain and enhance database security, backups, DR, and recovery.
• Document standard operating procedures and maintain system configs.

What We’re Looking For

• 7+ years hands-on CA-IDMS (essential)
• Solid knowledge of COBOL (desirable)
• Strong background with IBM z/OS environments
• Experience in IDMS logical & physical design, patching, DR, and tuning
• Familiarity with REXX, Assembler, ADS/O (nice to have)
