We are seeking an experienced and detail focussed Database Administrator (DBA) to join the Technology Innovation Group (TIG) to support the Atlassian Williams Racing database estate and provide support to users and application owners across the team. This role comes with a high degree of responsibility for critical databases supporting the Race Team, Wind Tunnel, Manufacturing and Design.

Working with the wider Data Team you will also support pipelining/ETL and development of our next generation Data Platform and ensure that data access is optimal at every level of the organisation as well as automate and integrate data across a diverse range of systems.

Provide support for mission critical databases supporting both our manufacturing and race operations functions ensuring 24x7 availability

Install, configure and upgrade database solutions to support application teams across the organisation

Take a proactive approach to patching, monitoring, security and ensure best practices across an extensive database estate

Plan and execute database migrations for legacy on-premise databases to a modern cloud platform ensuring application compatibility and efficient cost management

Support the wider Data Team with pipeline development and ETL processes ensuring required data in all locations at the required latency

Support application teams during development to ensure performant database access and support best practice approaches

Automate routine tasks and maintain documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures

Work with our partners providing out of hours support for databases

Design database solutions that are in line with long-term business objectives

Skills and experience required:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Previous proven experience in SQL Server database administration (AWS RDS experience is desirable)

Production experience of running critical services on PostgreSQL

In depth knowledge of high availability approaches, backup and recovery procedures as well as database performance tuning

Experience with PowerShell or other scripting languages for automation

Experience building and debugging database stored procedures, triggers and functions

Experience of change management procedures and documentation of technical solutions

Working knowledge of Python and Spark is highly desirable (particularly in an AWS environment)

Experience of Kubernetes

Experience in SQL server availability groups and database replication

Understanding of ETL processes using SSIS or equivalent

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work individually and with a diverse range of stakeholders in a rapidly changing environment
