The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm, and keep people safe.

In this role, you will be part of Sussex Police Strategic Insights Team, which brings together research, data analytics, and understanding of operational policing to support the organization in delivering effective and efficient services across all business areas in line with our priorities.

As a Data Visualization Developer, you will design and build Power BI reports that are interactive and visually appealing, analyze data, and present data through reports that aid decision-making to support the Priorities Delivery Plan.

You will consult with relevant business leads to understand the BI requirements of operational policing functions and undertake data discovery work to map business requirements to Sussex Police systems and data.

Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Insights Team to test the data and identify data quality issues.

Represent the Strategic Insights Team at internal meetings and engage with wider business and partners.

Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and character of work as may be reasonably required, including similar or lesser duties.

Skills & Experience

Qualification: A Level or equivalent standard education.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Demonstrable ability to design and create reports in Microsoft Power BI from various data sources. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Respectful, empathetic, and professional in conduct.
  • Problem-solving skills including interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and resolution from data.
  • Good organizational skills, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills.
