Contract Type: Full time, 37.50 hours per week

Working Hours/Pattern: Monday - Friday, 7.30am - 3.30pm or 8am - 4pm, flexible (to be discussed at interview)

Serco Rail Technical Services (SRTS) is a leader in independent rail technical expertise, working with organizations in the rail sector nationally and internationally, including government, rail infrastructure maintainers, rolling stock companies, train operators, and equipment manufacturers. With over 50 years of experience, we provide engineering, training, and digital services to our customers in the UK and abroad.

We are seeking a Data Technician based in Derby within the Digital Services area to support the delivery of documentation and data services to the UK rail industry.

Digital Services manages, stores, and provides controlled access to documentation for key railway customers, mainly through a large database accessible via a web portal across the UK rail industry.

The Data Technician will undertake tasks to meet customer commitments and comply with relevant standards and deadlines. Reporting to the Digital Services Team Leader, the role involves developing relationships within the team and with customers, providing guidance on data records, and ensuring accurate data input and maintenance according to procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Experience and understanding of data configuration management (training provided if needed).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Numerate, accurate, and literate.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Conscientious with sensitive information.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Flexible and able to handle ambiguity.
