A reputable racing team in Bournemouth is seeking a Data System Engineer to manage data activities related to their endurance racing cars. This position requires an engineering degree, strong data software skills, and trackside experience in racing. Candidates must be collaborative and self-motivated, capable of handling the unique pressures in a racing environment. Strong knowledge of LMP-style cars is essential, and fluency in English is a must.

We are building something special at Alpine Endurance Team.

As part of the Alpine long-term plan to compete in the World Endurance Championship (WEC), we are looking to add talented individuals to our team who are motivated to contribute significantly to our pursuit of excellence.

Within the Trackside Engineering Team, we have a rare opportunity for a Senior Performance Engineer.

Data System Engineer - The Role

Reporting to the Head of Trackside Engineering, the Data System Engineer will manage all activities related to data, IHM (interface human-machine), and the global reliability of the car. The role also involves working with mechanics on sensor calibration, EBS bleeding, and other processes. During races, the engineer manages energy and fuel aspects and is responsible for fuel capacity and weight management.

Data System Engineer - The Person

The successful candidate will hold an engineering or relevant degree and have a strong understanding of racing car systems and functions. They should be proficient with data software and have some programming knowledge to automate analysis tools. The candidate will work directly with engineers on one car, managing the pressures of racing effectively.

Additional qualifications include:

  • Good knowledge of software used within Alpine Endurance Team, such as HHDM, MM Wintax & Sysma, MATLAB, VBA (advantageous)
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar role
  • Endurance trackside experience (WEC/ELMS/Asian LMS/Formula 1/Formula E, etc.) is highly recommended
  • Strong knowledge of LMP-style cars is essential
  • Fluent in English; French language skills are a plus
