Summary of the role:

The Data Solutions Architect at EXL plays a strategic, client-facing role within our Data Management practice, focusing on banking. This is a technically focused leadership position where you partner with senior stakeholders to modernise data platforms, drive value from data, and accelerate cloud transformation. You will lead the technical design and delivery of complex data architectures and act as a trusted advisor on clients' end-to-end data strategy. While not a hands-on implementation role, you will shape architectures, develop solutions, guide workshops, create presentations, and oversee project execution with delivery teams. Additionally, you will spend 40-50% of your time supporting pre-sales activities, translating client requirements into solutions and proposals.

This role is ideal for a professional with deep technical expertise, strong communication, and consulting skills to influence decision-making at the C-suite level and lead large-scale transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities include:

• Pre-Sales: Respond to RFPs/RFIs/RFSs, translating client needs into solution blueprints and proposals, collaborating with sales and delivery teams.
• Enterprise Solution Design: Architect and lead delivery of large-scale data platforms using Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, Synapse, or Azure Fabric.
• Cloud Data Strategy: Own cloud migration and modernization strategies leveraging Azure, AWS, or GCP, with tools like Terraform and Azure DevOps.
• Data Modelling: Hands-on enterprise data modelling using ERwin, ER/Studio, or PowerDesigner.
• ETL/ELT Frameworks: Design and build data pipelines supporting batch and streaming data ingestion.
• Data Governance & Quality: Implement governance frameworks and data quality controls using platforms like Unity Catalog, Profisee, or Alation.
• Client Engagement & Advisory: Act as a trusted advisor to senior client leadership, influencing strategic decisions.
• Technical Leadership & Mentoring: Lead and inspire cross-functional teams, driving innovation and best practices.
• Documentation & Architecture Artefacts: Develop technical design documents, data models, and architectural blueprints.
• Industry Insight: Stay updated on emerging data tech, contribute to internal capabilities, and support go-to-market initiatives.

Essential qualifications and experience:

• Bachelor's or Master's in Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field.
• 10+ years in BI/Data Warehousing and analytics, with 4+ years in technical/solution architecture.
• Banking domain experience is essential, including in areas like retail, investment banking, or regulatory reporting.
• Insurance knowledge is advantageous.
• 3-5 years of hands-on enterprise data modelling experience.
• Practical knowledge of BI tools like Power BI, Tableau, or QlikView.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms GCP/Azure/AWS, and DevOps tools.
• Proven leadership in data teams and stakeholder collaboration.
• Preferred certifications from cloud vendors (GCP, Azure, AWS).
