Job summary

Co-op Digital in Manchester is seeking a Data Services Specialist to join our Data Management Team. The role focuses on improving data quality, governing data, and supporting a transition between legacy systems and SAP, in a control-focused environment.

You’ll deliver data reviews, dashboards and training while collaborating with partners to drive improvements and ensure timely, accurate information across operations.

Qualifications

  • Experience with data processes and familiarity with risk and controls.
  • Excellent attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience supporting projects with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Analytical thinking with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365, including Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) and Power BI.
  • Ability to collaborate across functions and deliver excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to data owners, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality information to support operations.
  • Act as SME for data governance, establishing requirements and assessing data quality.
  • Use triage processes to resolve data issues across the business and feed insights back to data owners.
  • Drive process improvements and data optimisation with business partners.
  • Deliver training, workshops and guidance to address recurring issues and promote best practice.
  • Work across legacy and SAP systems to carry out data reviews and audits.
  • Ensure process controls are in place to maintain compliance with risk frameworks.
  • Develop data quality dashboards, scorecards and performance metrics.

Data Services Specialist

£29,000 to £33,000 plus excellent benefits (Work Level 6B) Monday – Friday with occasional weekend work dependent upon business needs Manchester city centre, hybrid working. In this role you’ll split your time between home and coming into the office at least twice a week (find out more about our hybrid working policy at jobs.coop.co.uk/hybrid-working-policy).

We’re looking for a Data Services Specialist to join our Data Management Team, within our wider Co-op Business Services (CBS) organisation. CBS is made up of a number of diverse teams dedicated to delivering high-quality, reliable and cost-effective business services across our Co-op. You’ll play a key role in helping CBS to support and realise our group vision of ‘co-operating to build more value for member-owners every day’.

Why this job matters

In this role, you’ll provide support across the business to colleagues that process and manage data. You’ll make sure they have better visibility of data quality and find the cause of any issues, feeding this back to the data owners with a resolution. You’ll also support the transition between legacy systems and SAP, undertaking accurate data reviews and audits whilst working in a control focussed environment.

  • Work across legacy and SAP systems to carry out data reviews and audits
  • Ensure appropriate process controls are in place to maintain compliance with risk frameworks
  • Develop data quality dashboards, scorecards and performance metrics to monitor accuracy and support continuous improvement
