Octopus Energy Trading is seeking a data scientist to help reshape energy trading through data-driven forecasting and innovative analytics. You will join a collaborative, tech-forward team building models and data pipelines for demand, renewables, and price forecasting across the GB intraday market.

You’ll work with cross-functional teams to deploy models that impact real-world operations and energy flexibility, with a strong emphasis on Net Zero goals and scalable solutions.

Formación

• Proven ability to build and iterate forecasting models for energy demand and generation.
• Strong communication skills to explain methods, assumptions and results to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience or strong interest in GB electricity markets and trading concepts is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Explore data needed to trade GB intraday power market.
• Develop and maintain forecasting models for demand and renewables.
• Source high-quality data to improve forecasts.
• Build forecasting frameworks and tools.
• Automate forecasting processes with checks and alerts.
• Use forecasting outputs to inform price forecasts.
• Collaborate with Trading, Renewables, and other teams to leverage data insights.
• Develop software and front-end components within the team.
