Job summary

Octopus Energy Trading is seeking a data scientist to join our team in London. You will build and maintain models forecasting electricity demand and renewable generation, focusing on GB intraday markets, with a strong data-driven approach.

You will partner with Trading, Renewables and Tech to improve forecasting accuracy, deploy models, and develop tooling for end-to-end data pipelines in a collaborative, supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Python and building forecasting models.
• Ability to communicate approaches, strengths and limitations.
• Hands-on experience applying machine learning techniques.

Responsibilities

• Exploring data needed to trade the GB intraday power market.
• Build and maintain forecasting models for demand and renewables.
• Source high-quality data for forecasting.
• Develop forecasting framework and tools.
• Automate forecasting processes with checks and alerts.
• Use forecasting models to improve price forecasts.
• Collaborate with Trading, Renewables, and other teams.
• Develop software and front-end systems within the team.
