Job description

As a Data Scientist at Meta, you will shape the future of people-facing and business-facing products across our family of applications, including Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Oculus. By applying your technical skills, analytical mindset, and product intuition to one of the world's richest data sets, you will help define experiences for billions of people and hundreds of millions of businesses globally.

You will collaborate with cross-functional partners across Product, Engineering, Research, Data Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Finance to address a wide array of product and business challenges. Your role involves using data and analysis to identify and solve key product development issues, influence product strategy and investment decisions, and focus on impactful outcomes.

Product Leadership

You will leverage data to shape product development, identify new opportunities, anticipate challenges, and ensure our products deliver value to users, businesses, and Meta. Your insights will help prioritize features, set goals, and understand the product ecosystem.

Analytics

You will guide teams with data-driven insights, developing hypotheses and employing various analytical methodologies to test them.

Communication and Influence

Beyond presenting data, you will craft compelling data stories, convincing partners with clear insights and actionable recommendations, building credibility through structured and clear communication.

Responsibilities
  1. Identify new opportunities to impact products and influence market solutions.
  2. Apply quantitative analysis and data presentation skills to understand user interactions with growth products.
  3. Collaborate with product teams to solve problems, identify trends, and uncover opportunities.
  4. Support product decisions and launches through data insights, working with cross-functional teams.
  5. Define KPIs, design experiments, monitor metrics, and analyze root causes of changes.
  6. Conduct exploratory analyses to discover new opportunities, understand ecosystems and user behaviors, and identify levers to improve key metrics.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, a relevant technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years experience with data querying languages (e.g., SQL), scripting languages (e.g., Python), and/or statistical software (e.g., R).
  • 4+ years experience solving analytical problems, understanding ecosystems, user behaviors, and long-term trends, leading data-driven projects from definition to execution.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's or Ph.D. in a quantitative field.
