We are seeking a Data Scientist with experience in creating financial models, machine learning, SQL, Python, and forecasting. This role is with a leading company in Manchester.

As a Data Scientist, your responsibilities will include defining and shaping financial models and forecasts to enhance decision-making, targeted acquisition, and profitable growth. Proficiency in SQL, Python, and R is essential, with a strong emphasis on SQL.

Experience with Machine Learning is highly desirable, as the company plans to expand in this area in the coming years.

Required Experience

• Proven experience in predictive modeling, forecasting, and analytics with strong SQL, Python, and R skills.
• Awareness of Machine Learning and its benefits for data efficiency.
• Experience in eCommerce is advantageous to understand operational models.
• Proficiency in data mining, mathematics, and statistical analysis.
• Ability to communicate analysis outcomes clearly and concisely, with a pragmatic and analytical mindset.
• Strong academic background in a numerical subject, with a good honours degree or equivalent.
• Extensive experience in complex data analysis, with the ability to develop proposals and recommendations.
• Additional experience in Credit risk, risk assessment, Python, Machine Learning, SPSS, SAS, or MI packages is a plus.

This role offers significant autonomy, such as analyzing customer risk profiles, creating forecasting models, and helping define strategic directions.

Responsibilities

• Define, develop, and maintain financial models and forecasts to support decision-making, acquisition, and growth.
• Perform specialized analysis to model historical data and generate forecasts based on industry metrics.
• Conduct scenario analysis to assess risks.
• Proactively update financial models during periods of change.
• Review financial models and communicate findings effectively to non-specialists.
• Ensure data quality and integrity, addressing issues and proposing solutions.
• Share knowledge, best practices, and mentor team members.
