Barclays is seeking a curious and aspiring Data Scientist with a foundation in language models and generative artificial intelligence to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone early in their career, looking to apply their academic and coding experience in a practical, high-impact environment.

Responsibilities

1. Design, develop, implement, and support mathematical, statistical, and machine learning models and analytics used in business decision-making.
2. Collaborate with technology teams to specify dependencies required for analytical solutions, such as data, development environments, and tools.
3. Develop high-performing, well-documented analytics and models, demonstrating their efficacy to business users and validation teams.
4. Implement analytics and models in accurate, stable, and well-tested software, working with technology to operationalize them.
5. Provide ongoing support for the effectiveness of analytics and models.
6. Ensure compliance with Barclays Enterprise Risk Management Policies, especially the Model Risk Policy.
7. Maintain all development activities within the defined control environment.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with data science and machine learning libraries.
• Solid foundation in language model development, particularly generative AI.

Additional Valued Skills

• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
• Knowledge of distributed computing frameworks such as Spark/PySpark.
