Job summary

ShareForce is seeking an experienced Data Scientist for an initial 6-month contract in Hampshire with hybrid working. You will handle large, unstructured datasets, perform data analysis, deliver actionable commercial insights and work on an AI model analysing customer conversations.

You will use SQL and Python, develop dashboards, and present findings to commercial and operations stakeholders, turning data into practical recommendations while ensuring data quality.

Qualifications

• Strong experience as a Data Scientist or similar hands-on analytics role.
• Advanced SQL and strong Python skills.
• Excellent exploratory data analysis and analytical problem-solving.
• Strong statistical knowledge with practical data science/machine-learning experience.
• Experience analysing customer and commercial performance (acquisition, conversion, retention).
• Experience with unstructured or semi-structured data (text/conversations).
• Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI/Tableau).
• Experience with modern cloud data environments (Azure/Databricks advantageous).
• Strong stakeholder communication and ability to explain analyses to non-technical audiences.

Rate: £500-550/day (Outside IR35)

Overview of the Role

ShareForce is supporting a fast-scaling, data-driven business looking to appoint an experienced Data Scientist on an initial 6-month contract. This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on data analysis, commercial insight and applied data science. Working with large, complex and unstructured datasets, you will help the business better understand customer and commercial performance, identify opportunities for improvement and turn data into clear, actionable insight. A key area of focus will be working with an existing AI model centred around the capture and analysis of unstructured data from customer conversations. You will use the data and outputs generated from these interactions to identify meaningful patterns and insights and explore how they can be combined with wider customer and commercial data.

Responsibilities

• Analyse large and complex datasets to identify trends, patterns and opportunities to improve performance.
• Deliver actionable insight across lead generation, conversion, customer behaviour and retention.
• Translate commercial questions into structured analytical problems and determine appropriate analytical approaches.
• Use SQL and Python to interrogate, manipulate and analyse data.
• Apply statistical and data science techniques to understand customer behaviour and performance drivers.
• Analyse structured and unstructured customer data, including data captured from customer conversations.
• Work with the existing conversational data model and support the analysis and enhancement of its outputs.
• Explore opportunities to combine conversational data with wider customer and commercial datasets.
• Develop and improve dashboards, reporting and KPI measurement.
• Present analytical findings as clear, practical recommendations to commercial and operational stakeholders.
• Identify and investigate data-quality issues affecting analytical outputs.

Skills & Experience

• Strong experience as a Data Scientist, Decision Scientist or in a similarly hands-on analytical role.
• Advanced SQL and strong Python skills.
• Excellent exploratory data analysis and analytical problem-solving capability.
• Strong statistical knowledge with practical experience applying data science and machine-learning techniques.
• Experience analysing customer and commercial performance, ideally across acquisition, conversion, retention or customer behaviour.
• Experience working with unstructured or semi-structured data, ideally text or conversational data.
• Experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Experience with modern cloud data environments; Microsoft Azure and Databricks would be advantageous.
• Strong stakeholder and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex analysis to non-technical audiences.
• Experience within insurance, financial services, regulated environments or high-volume B2C businesses would be advantageous.
• Exposure to NLP, text analytics, experimentation or A/B testing would also be beneficial.

Package & Working Arrangements

• Initial 6-month contract.
• £500 - £550/day
• Outside IR35
• Hybrid working, with 2-3 days per week onsite in Hampshire
