Job summary

Solas IT Recruitment seeks a Data Scientist to transform complex data into actionable insights and build analytical and ML solutions across business problems. You’ll work through data exploration, modelling, testing, and deployment within a collaborative data/engineering team.

The ideal candidate has hands-on data science experience, strong Python, SQL skills, and familiarity with ML techniques. A hybrid office setup in Maidenhead supports flexible, modern work arrangements.

Qualifications

• Experience applying data science / ML techniques to real-world problems.
• Strong Python programming; R knowledge is a plus.
• Solid SQL and relational database knowledge.
• Experience analysing and interpreting large or complex datasets.
• Knowledge of ML and predictive modelling techniques.
• Experience designing experiments / A/B testing.
• Ability to visualize data and present findings clearly.
• Exposure to Claude Code and understanding of agentic AI is desirable.
• Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics or other quantitative discipline.

Responsibilities

• Exploring complex datasets to uncover patterns and insights.
• Designing and improving ML and predictive models.
• Using statistics and experiments to test ideas and measure outcomes.
• Developing data preparation processes and ETL workflows.
• Collaborating with Data Engineers to improve data quality and accessibility.
• Creating automated tests around data science processes and models.
• Communicating results to technical and business stakeholders.
• Identifying new modelling opportunities and feature ideas.
