Job summary

Babcock International in the Bristol area seeks a Senior Data Scientist to lead innovative analytics and software development for the defence programme. You will guide modelling, optimisation and Python-based solutions to inform strategic decisions and will work with a small team of analysts and developers.

Key duties include coordinating workloads, delivering robust data products with Excel/Power BI, and collaborating across stakeholders while maintaining SC clearance.

Qualifications

• Experience developing and delivering analytical solutions using Python.
• Proven experience leading or managing small teams of data analysts and/or software developers.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences.
• Experience working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and balancing changing priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI for analysis and data visualisation; Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computing, Information Technology or a related discipline

Job description

As a Senior Data Scientist, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll have the opportunity to lead innovative software development, modelling and analytics projects that support one of the UK's most important defence programmes. Working at the heart of strategic submarine maintenance and disposal planning for the Royal Navy, you'll use advanced analytics and Python-based solutions to help inform critical business and operational decisions. Day-to-day, you'll be required to

This role is based at Bristol and is 35 hours per week. Set working times are 7.5 hours Monday to Thursday and 5 hours on Friday, finishing at 12pm
