Role Overview
The role of a data scientist in the pricing science team involves exploration and support. Data scientists or Pricing Science teams are responsible for introducing new techniques and approaches into our price modelling process, maintaining the tools used by the pricing teams, and contributing to the development of our tech infrastructure. They may also collaborate with third-party partners to develop new products outside of pricing, such as risk or customer behaviour scores.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Develop a strong understanding of how we price Motor and Home insurance products
- Identify areas for process and practice improvements
- Lead research and development projects to enhance machine learning models' performance and efficiency
- Collaborate with the Technical Pricing Team to identify business problems and suggest solutions
- Work with current tools primarily based on R and Python
- Maintain existing tools and platforms in collaboration with other data scientists
- Work with other data scientists
Skills, Experience, and Knowledge
- Proficiency in Python or R, including relevant data science and statistics libraries
- Knowledge of data manipulation, machine learning, advanced analytics, and statistical techniques
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team
- Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., mathematics, computer science, statistics) is advantageous
- Experience in insurance or financial services is advantageous
