Join a leading agency as a Data Scientist, enhancing safety monitoring through advanced analytics. We are currently looking for a Data Scientist to join our Scientific Data & Insight function within the Safety & Surveillance group.
This is a full-time opportunity, on a permanent basis. The role will be based in 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf London, E14 4PU. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas.
Government departments and agencies are working towards implementing a minimum 60% attendance in office sites.
We are currently implementing a flexible, hybrid way of working, with a minimum of 8 days per month working on site to enable collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business. Attendance on site is driven by business needs and can flex up to 12 days a month, with the remainder of time worked remotely or in the office. Some roles may require more regular on-site presence.

The central mission of the Safety & Surveillance portfolio is to protect the public by appropriately identifying, assessing, and managing risks associated with medical products.
The group delivers robust vigilance processes to detect, monitor, and evaluate safety signals across the product lifecycle, including assessing risk/benefit balances and designing effective risk mitigations. It communicates effectively with patients and the public and supports healthcare systems in implementing safety measures. The Safety and Surveillance group integrates expertise on the safety of all medical products with enforcement capabilities, supported by the Agency’s data and evidence capabilities, including the common vigilance platform SafetyConnect.
What’s the role?
The Scientific Data and Insight function supports this mission by developing and providing expertise to enhance the analytic capabilities of the Safety & Surveillance group. Activities include epidemiological assessments, identifying data gaps, and developing novel pharmacovigilance methods. The division collaborates with external partners and academic institutions, frequently publishing scientific papers.
This role involves applying advanced data science and machine learning techniques to enhance vigilance and safety monitoring of medicines, vaccines, and medical devices. The post holder will develop innovative analytical approaches, collaborate across functions, and translate complex analyses into clear insights for colleagues and stakeholders.
