About

Data Scientist Cambridge (1x day PW) Up to £55,000 Health/MedTech

I’m supporting a long-standing client in Cambridge who has experienced significant success recently and needs to scale their Data Science function to meet demand. This role is a traditional statistics-focused Data Science position.

I am looking to speak with candidates with around 2+ years of commercial Data Science experience, heavily focused on probability and statistics. You’ll join a genuinely lovely and talented team. This is an opportunity to use your skills to positively impact others’ lives. Health/MedTech experience is a bonus but not essential.

Responsibilities

As a key member of the data science team, you’ll:

• Provide statistical expertise for clinical research
• Design and refine study protocols, analysis workflows, and data pipelines
• Develop advanced methodologies and visualization tools
• Collaborate with clinicians to enhance statistical processes
• Partner with internal and external stakeholders to deliver data-driven solutions

Essential experience

• Python
• Git for version control
• Classical statistics
• Hypothesis testing (parametric and non-parametric)
• Survival analysis techniques (e.g., Cox regression)
• Linear or logistic regression models
• Experience with small datasets (very important)

Desirable experience

• Familiarity with pharma/health/medical datasets
• Experience with mixed effects models and matching techniques for clinical trials
• BSc or MSc in Mathematics (statistics focus)

Additional details

The office is located five minutes from Cambridge train station. You’ll only need to be on-site once a week (more if you wish), making it suitable for those living within a commutable distance from Cambridge.

The interview process is streamlined to three stages: a 30-minute pre-screening call, a one-hour technical interview, and a final in-person culture fit interview.
