Job summary

We are Kainos in Belfast, seeking an Associate Data Scientist to join our Workday Products division. You will join a diverse, ambitious team delivering AI/ML solutions across a fast-growing suite of products and learn from senior colleagues.

This full-time role offers opportunities to build technical skills in a fast-paced environment while contributing to real client projects. A strong foundation in ML and Python is expected.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Foundational knowledge of mathematics, statistics, and ML principles.
  • Working knowledge of Python with interest in clean, efficient code for AI/ML.
  • Hands-on experience with ML frameworks (Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Exposure to deploying AI/ML models with engineering colleagues.
  • Some exposure to generative AI concepts/tools (OpenAI GPT, Hugging Face).
  • Basic awareness of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience creating visualisations or dashboards (Dash, Streamlit).
  • Good interpersonal skills; ability to explain tech to non-technical audiences.
  • Enthusiasm for learning from senior team members.
  • BSc in a quantitative field (CS, ML, OR, Stats).
  • Academic/internship/personal projects delivering data science outputs.
  • Basic familiarity with CI/CD or MLOps concepts.
  • Exposure to Docker containerisation.
  • Experience with relational/NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
  • Familiarity with Workday data structures/APIs/reporting is an advantage.
  • Willingness to participate in team knowledge-sharing activities.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of AI and ML solutions across our Workday Products division.
  • Work on products including Kainos Smart, Employee Document Management, and Pay Transparency Analyzer.
  • Collaborate closely with senior colleagues to learn and apply data science techniques on live client projects.
  • Contribute meaningfully to our teams delivery and growth.
  • Help support the deployment of AI/ML models alongside engineering colleagues.
  • Explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences when needed.
  • Participate in collaboration and knowledge-sharing within the team.

Job description

Salary: £28,000 - 51,000 per year
