Job description

We’re working with a market-leading health-focused organisation that’s using cutting-edge data science and AI to reshape how people access and experience healthcare currently scaling their AI capabilities across a number of exciting workstreams. They’ve built a strong data science function that’s now growing again—this time with a key leadership role; an opportunity for a hands-on Data Science Manager to lead a high-calibre team while remaining close to the code and product delivery.

What you’ll be doing:
You’ll be leading a small but growing team of data scientists working on a wide range of production-grade AI solutions. The role is a hybrid of technical leadership and hands-on contribution—so expect to support and mentor, while still getting involved in model building, experimentation, and optimisation.

You’ll play a key role in shaping how AI is used to solve real-world problems—across pricing, claims, customer behaviour and more—with projects spanning traditional machine learning through to advanced GenAI. The team has strong momentum, leadership buy-in, and real appetite for innovation. If you're someone who loves combining technical depth with leadership and strategic thinking, this one’s for you.

You'll work closely with engineering, product, and analytics colleagues to translate business challenges into high-impact data science projects—everything from proof of concept to deployment. Your ability to communicate insights to non-technical stakeholders will be key, as will your curiosity and commercial thinking when solving problems.

The current roadmap includes over a dozen AI and ML initiatives, ranging from claims optimisation to pricing models and GenAI tooling. You’ll report directly into a senior data leader and play a big part in shaping the team’s culture, delivery and strategic direction.

What experience you’ll need to apply:

  • Proven experience leading and mentoring data scientists in a commercial setting
  • Currently working as a Data Science Manager, Lead Data Scientist or similar
  • Experience working on GenAI/MLOps and similar projects
  • Strong track record of delivering machine learning or AI projects end-to-end
  • Hands-on skills in Python, with frameworks like Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or PySpark
  • Deep understanding of data science best practices, including MLOps
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills—able to translate complex insights into business impact
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams with engineering, architecture, and product
  • Knowledge of the insurance or financial services industry would be a bonus
  • Comfortable working with unclean or unbalanced datasets, and familiarity with synthetic data is a plus

What you’ll get in return:
  • Up to £90,000 basic salary depending on experience
  • Annual bonus linked to company and personal performance
  • Great pension, life assurance and more!
  • Employee discounts, gym benefits, and structured learning time (2 hours/week)
Hackathons, coaching, and global collaboration across teams
  • Flexible hybrid working—typically 2–3 days per week in either Tunbridge Wells or Bristol

Apply with your updated CV, and we’ll review your application as soon as possible to set up a chat and tell you more about the role. Any questions in the meantime? Feel free to drop Tegan an email.
