National Grid is seeking a Data Science Manager to lead a high‑performing team and deliver impactful AI and analytics solutions. The role blends hands‑on coding with leadership, driving data‑driven decision making and innovative capabilities across the enterprise.

Based in London or Warwick with hybrid working, you’ll shape data science strategy, mentor scientists, and collaborate with UK/US teams to accelerate the energy transition with scalable data platforms.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience in Data Science, ideally with exposure to the utility or energy sector.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop Data Scientists, guiding teams to deliver high quality, impactful work.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, able to work effectively with end users, peers, and senior leaders.
  • A knack for making the complex simple, translating technical concepts into clear business insights and recommendations.
  • Fluency in Data Science techniques across statistics, machine learning, and GenAI.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with the ability to build reliable, scalable solutions.
  • Experience working in cloud environments on Linux and/or Windows platforms (Azure experience is a plus)
  • A strong track record delivering the full lifecycle of Data Science products and projects.
  • Experience working within regulated utility environments.
  • Experimental design experience and a hypothesis driven mindset.
  • Familiarity with interactive visualisation tools (Power BI a plus).
  • Knowledge of GIS tools, such as ArcGIS

National Grid is hiring a Data Science Manager to lead and develop our Data Science team. This role is based at either our London or Warwick office, with hybrid working. You’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering advanced data science solutions that support critical operations across our enterprise, driving innovation, scalability, and meaningful insights.

As a Data Science Manager at National Grid, you’ll lead a high performing team while staying hands on — delivering impactful projects, building AI models, coding, and turning data into clear, actionable insights. About You

Demonstrable experience in Data Science, ideally with exposure to the utility or energy sector.

Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop Data Scientists, guiding teams to deliver high quality, impactful work.

Competitive Salary: Circa £100,000 per annum (based on capability, and experience)

Annual performance incentive of up to 30% of eligible earnings

This role is offered on a full time basis.

We are also offering hybrid /flexible working. Base location for this role will be either London or Warwick.
