Role Purpose: We're looking for a high-impact Data Science Manager to lead the development and delivery of complex analytics and machine learning solutions that unlock customer insight, drive smarter decision-making and fuel personalisation across B&Q and TradePoint.
What's the job?Key Responsibilities:- Lead end-to-end delivery of data science projects, challenging current approaches and driving innovation.
- Develop and deploy predictive models (e.g. churn, forecasting, customer value) and customer segmentations.
- Build and improve marketing measurement models, including incrementality and effectiveness.
- Translate business goals into data science solutions, working closely with product managers and stakeholders.
- Manage project backlogs using Agile methodologies to prioritise analytical needs.
- Support personalisation and targeting strategies across all customer channels.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and bring external thinking into B&Q's data science practice.
- Drive adoption of data science products across the business and ensure they deliver measurable value.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships and advocate for data-driven decision-making.
What we need:What You'll Bring:- Advanced programming skills in Python or R, with strong SQL knowledge and clean coding practices.
- Proven experience in machine learning, predictive modelling, segmentation, and time series analysis using tools like TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, or Keras.
- A track record of deploying data science solutions into production and driving measurable business impact.
- Experience with cloud-based platforms (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery).
- Strong leadership and coaching skills, with experience managing technical teams in Agile environments.
- A commercial mindset with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
- Passion for data quality, governance, and version control (GitHub).
- A curious, collaborative approach and a flair for storytelling with data.
