Job description

We are looking for a Data Science & AI Specialist to leverage the full range of BT data sets using advanced data science and AI models. In this role, you will design and implement AI applications, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. Your goal will be to develop solutions that support the group's data strategies, strategic decision-making, and align with business objectives—aiming to boost operational efficiency, improve network performance, enhance customer experiences, proactively prevent network issues, and streamline operations.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead the extraction and analysis of big data using Data Science & AI techniques to generate insights supporting decision-making or embedding in new products and services.
2. Drive model development, including data exploration, training, feature extraction, validation, and scoring.
3. Create insightful visualizations to make complex analyses accessible to a broad audience.
4. Address fairness, ethics, interpretability, safety, robustness, and privacy in AI and machine learning initiatives.
5. Mentor other Data Science & AI professionals, enhancing team capabilities as a technical resource.
6. Stay updated on emerging trends in machine learning and AI, sharing knowledge with the team.
7. Design and develop analytical data models that deliver tangible value.
8. Demonstrate practical applications of models and innovate to deliver value rapidly.
9. Utilize tools such as Python and SageMaker for data exploration and prepare detailed implementation strategies for production.
10. Act as an AI evangelist, effectively communicating how models work to diverse audiences.
11. Collaborate with team members to achieve consensus and demonstrate value.

Minimum Requirements:

• 2-3+ years of proven success in applying Data Science approaches or developing AI algorithms and models.
• Experience with AWS cloud services for scalable AI & data solutions.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python/Java and knowledge of AI/ML libraries.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, data modeling, and data structures.
• Knowledge of data governance practices to ensure data quality, security, and compliance.
• Understanding of ethical considerations in AI, with the ability to develop responsible AI solutions.
• Research skills to stay current with AI trends and techniques.
• Excellent communication skills for sharing ideas clearly with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience in leading, managing, or coaching technical teams.
• Strong practical knowledge of AI and data science tools, especially Python and SageMaker.
