Data Science and Analytics Senior Business Analyst
Salary: National from £51,200 to £64,500; London from £56,400 to £70,000

The team/department: The Advanced Analytics and Data Science Units (AA&DSUs) is part of the Intelligence & Digital (I&D) division within Data, Technology & Innovation (DTI). It includes data scientists, AI strategists, engineers, change experts, designers, and business analysts.
This role is part of the Business Consulting & Pipeline (BC&P) team, which collaborates across the organization to discover, scope, and design solutions meeting user and business needs. They also manage the project pipeline, prioritizing based on strategic objectives and value.
What you will be doing
- Identify data science opportunities: support at least one data science unit/strategic program, co-owning the project lifecycle to identify and scope project ideas.
- Conduct discovery workshops: design and deliver workshops to understand stakeholder pain points and explore how data science can help.
- Convert business requirements into solutions: translate user pain points into functional and non-functional requirements collaboratively.
- Shape strategic direction: assist management in defining project scope, stakeholders, and strategic recommendations.
- Manage pipeline of projects: co-own with management, scoping, prioritizing, and reporting on data science projects.
- Develop ways of working: share business analyst skills, develop best practices, and assets within the team.

Skills and experience required
- Proven experience as a Senior Business Analyst or similar role in data science, analytics, tech/IT consultancy, fintech, or innovation sectors.
- Experience with full project lifecycle, waterfall and agile methodologies.
- Strong stakeholder relationship skills, problem solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver quality outputs.
